Malaki ang esensya ng mga fast food chain sa pagtakay sa diskursong pangmanggagawa partikular sa mga service crew sa panahong umaangkop ang lipunan sa mabilisang paggalaw at pagbabago ng mga sitwasyon na direkta at di-direktang naididikta ng globalisasyon. Bagama’t positibo ang ihinahayag na bunga nito, may mga dalubhasa pa rin sa usaping sosyo-ekonomiko at kultural ang naniniwalang nagbubunsod rin ito ng pagkabulag ng mga mamamayan sa mga esensyal na sitwasyong panlipunan dahil sa pagkasilaw sa mga oportunidad na inihahain nito sa buong daigdig lalo na sa mga umuunlad na bansa. Tinatalakay ng papel ang iba’t ibang kalagayan ng mga pilíng fast food crew sa lipunan kaugnay ng kanilang paghahanapbuhay sa espasyong apektado ng neoliberal na globalisasyon – ang fast food. Mula sa pakikipagkuwentuhan at pakikipanayam sa 17 na crew, natuklasang may makahulugang kalagayang panlipunang kinahaharap ang mga service crew na maiuugnay sa konsepto ng “bilis” bilang katangian ng globalisasyon: (1) pangangailangang pinansyal para sa sarili at pamilya ang pangunahing dahilan ng mga crew kung bakit sila nag-(se)service crew; (2) kapuna-puna ang kabagalan ng regularisasyon dito; (3) gaya ng ibang hanapbuhay, nakaaapekto sa sosyal na aspekto ng buhay ng mga working student na crew ang mas matagal pa nilang oras na naigugugol sa store; (4) may pangmamaliit sa ganitong klase ng hanapbuhay; (5) isyu hinggil sa minimum na pasahod sa all-around na trabaho; at (6) kapansinpansin ang pagtatalaga ng mga gawain ayon sa kasarian at edad ng mga crew. Ang mga kalagayang ito ng mga Pilipinong crew – marahil ng iba pang manggagawa sa mga bansang nasa Ikatlong Daigdig – ay relatibo sa patuloy na pakikisangkot sa globalisasyon.
